Parametrized Spaces Are Locally Constant Homotopy Sheaves

We prove that the homotopy theory of parametrized spaces embeds fully and faithfully in the homotopy theory of simplicial presheaves, and that its essential image consists of the locally homotopically constant objects. This gives a homotopy-theoretic version of the classical identification of covering spaces with locally constant sheaves. We also prove a new version of the classical result that...

Abstract Homotopy Theory and Generalized Sheaf Cohomology

HOMOTOPY THEORY AND GENERALIZED SHEAF COHOMOLOGY BY KENNETHS. BROWN0) ABSTRACT. Cohomology groups Ha(X, E) are defined, where X is a topological space and £ is a sheaf on X with values in Kan's category of spectra. These groups generalize the ordinary cohomology groups of X with coefficients in an abelian sheaf, as well as the generalized cohomology of X in the usual sense. The groups are defin...

The Verdier hypercovering theorem

to the morphism f ·p−1, is a bijection provided that X and Y are locally fibrant in the sense that all of their stalks are Kan complexes. Here, π(Z, Y ) denotes simplicial homotopy classes of maps, and the colimit is indexed over homotopy classes represented by hypercovers p : Z → X. A hypercover is a map which is a trivial fibration of simplicial sets in all stalks, and is therefore invertible...
